Jupiter on 28th August 2010 At present Jupiter is missing one of its dark belts. The South Equatorial Belt faded away while Jupiter was behind the Sun, leaving the planet with an unusual appearance. This has been observed many times before, and the belt is expected to reappear in a burst of atmospheric activity. The moon visible to the right of Jupiter is Ganymede.
